Migraines

I suffer from migraines. I never did when I was younger, so when they began I was caught off guard. And by caught off guard, I mean that I had never experienced any kind of pain like it, not child birth nor even when I woke up on the operating table (which was incredibly painful btw). When I finally sought help for them, I thought my head was actually going to explode. After doctors and medication (thank you for medication!), I wondered what could really be causing my migraines because quite frequently they begin during the night. The pain actually wakes me up. Not surprisingly, there really is no explanation other than I will most likely suffer from them for the rest of my life. Yeah! But what I did find out was that one of the things that happens during a migraine is that fluid seeps out of the blood vessels into the brain. Great. No surprise, I suppose, I have a leaky brain!

So, yours aren't estrogen related? So many of them are. Sorry about your leaky brain. :(

My usual migraine coping method is 2 Tylenol, a Naproxin, and a diet Coke. :)

Nope to the estrogen. Interestingly, I found a migraine site that mentioned caffeine actually helps a migraine because it constricts the blood vessels (i.e. stopping the leaking). Medication is the best coping method I've found! So enjoy. :)

Yeah, a lot of us swear by the diet Coke method. :)

Good luck with yours. I just started something new (and freakin' expensive!) today to try to kill mine off.

OMG the pills the doc gave me cost $33 each! I do everything I can to get rid of it before taking a pill!

Good luck to you to and may the diet Coke force be with you!

Ugh, I'm with you on the migraines! I've had the same experience, that I never had them when I was little and then it got so bad all of a sudden. I thought my head was going to explode too! I was given morphine and hydrocodone, and I had such bad side effects, I had to detox off of them (not fun). But now I've found out that a lot of it is actually because I am gluten and dairy intolerant. Getting some relief from going off that, and trying some new treatments which I hope will help. I pray that everyone on here gets relief because I KNOW what a nightmare this is!!!!

I can't take hydrocodone because it makes me throw up, so I feel your pain! I hadn't noticed mine happening because of any particular thing...which is very frustrating. I just wake up in the middle of the night in agony. I will have to watch what I've eaten the night before to see if that has anything to do with it. Thanks!:)
